Why Regular Attendance Matters
Every day at Ako Langimalie is part of your child’s learning journey.
Young children learn through familiar routines, warm relationships and experiences that build on one another over time. Regular attendance helps your child feel secure, connected and confident within our preschool community. It also gives them more opportunities to learn through play, participate in our language-rich environment and deepen their understanding of the Tongan language, culture and values.
Regular attendance helps children:
Build strong, trusting relationships with their teachers.
Develop confidence, independence and a sense of belonging.
Strengthen their lea faka-Tonga and English language skills.
Take part in planned learning experiences.
Build friendships and social skills.
Develop consistent routines.
Prepare for a positive transition to school.

Regular Attendance at Ako Langimalie
We understand that children may sometimes be unable to attend because of illness, family circumstances or other difficulties. Please contact us as early as possible if your child will be absent.
Children who are unwell should remain at home in line with our illness policy. Please let us know if your child has an ongoing health condition or learning-support need, as additional support may be available.
If your child’s regular days or hours no longer suit your family, please speak with us. We can review the enrolment agreement together to ensure the booked days accurately reflect the days your child is expected to attend.
We are here to work alongside you. Please talk with us if transport, work arrangements, family responsibilities, settling difficulties, or another issue is affecting your child’s attendance.
Regular attendance, strong family relationships, and opportunities to learn through language and culture all help our children thrive.
